ET D'EMIE SUPPORTS THE SEAQUAL INITIATIVE
THE OCEAN
Because he inspires us every day ...
Because he communicates his strength to us ...
Because everyone can come and recharge their batteries there,
take the time to reconnect with oneself...
Because it evokes holidays, laughter, games, sea spray, tides,
long walks, sand castles, waves, surfing, fishing,
the reunited family, friends, in short life and the joy of living ...
Because it is the cradle of our brand
and even more the cradle of life ...
We are committed, like you parents and children, to protect it.Â

THE PROBLEM :Â 12 MILLION TONNES OF PLASTICSÂ
ARE THROWN IN OUR OCEANSÂ EVERY YEAR
92% of plastics entering the oceans are macro plastics. Left alone, these plastics will break down into microplastics that enter the very beginning of the food chain, permeating all species, including ourselves, with consequences that we are only beginning to understand today.
 Â
Â
The main plastics found in marine litter are water bottles, shampoos, detergents, milk bottles, shopping bags, food packaging.
Â
80% OF MARINE PLASTIC WASTE COMES FROM THE LAND
It is a myth that marine litter comes mainly from fishing and shipping, 9 million tonnes comes from the land!
Â
PLASTIC STAYS IN THE OCEANSÂ FOR AN INCREDIBLE NUMBER OF YEARS
Â
Â
MARINE WASTE COMES INÂ MAINLY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEANS
Â
Â
PLASTIC KILLS MILLIONS OF MARINE ANIMALS EACH YEAR
Marine debris harms over 800 species. 40% of marine mammals and 44% of seabird species are affected by the ingestion of marine debris. Marine pollution also causes loss of biodiversity and hampers ecosystem functions and services.
Plastic stays in our ecosystem for years, injuring thousands of sea creatures every day.
1,000,000 seabirds die each year from plastic debris
100,000 marine mammals die each year from plastic debris
Â
A STARTING POINT FOR A CLEANER OCEAN: THE SEAQUAL YARN
Marine litter from our beaches, found on the bottom and surface of the ocean, or entering our oceans through rivers and estuaries is collected through cleanup programs. It is then sorted into different types of materials. The plastic part is cleaned and transformed into recycled marine plastic in facilities approved by SEAQUAL INITIATIVE. It then returned to the industry to be made into beautiful new and durable products.
Our Ocean Connected logo, created specifically for models made with seaqual yarn (3 outfits for parents and 2 outfits for kids), can be worn like a tattoo and underlines this precious link that unites us to the oceans and to life.
